Here is a very old Portuguese recipe originality, already included in the Modern Cook, printed in 1780. The original Capilé Syrup, made from avenca fronds and with a touch of natural orange blossom water, is diluted with water to obtain a slightly sweet, subtly perfumed and very refreshing refreshment. Serve with ice and a lemon peel at any time. If you appreciate less sweetness, try increasing the recommended dilution, in plain or sparkling water. To preserve all the quality of these syrups, the bottles should be stored in a dry and cool place. Always shake before opening and then store in the refrigerator. It should be drunk fresh. As Eça de Queiroz used to say, "And go for refreshment!"
